Does anyone think Nokia's aren't made as good as they used to be? My Dad's 3315 (*wipes away tear* brings back so many memories :) ) is still going strong, yet my 6 month old 6288 is restarting itself constantly, and while I'm making phone calls, it kinda buzzes in my ear (as if the volume is too loud, but it's on the lowest volume).

So, anyway, I just upgraded to a Motorazr V9, and want to know how to get rid of the "RE:" that comes up when you reply to texts. It's driving my mate insane :)

What's the V9 like? I'm thinking of getting one.

I currently have the k800i like you Ford, and my contract is expiring soon. I realise that this is probably a downgrade but truth be told I don't often take photos with it, though it is good when I'm out, but its usually my mates taking photos anyway.

Like Q I'm really just interested in making calls and texting, with a decent enough (2MP) camera for those odd occasions. Also, the V9 is a lot smaller and sleeker than the k800i which I find to get pretty annoying due to its chunk factor.

My brother has the V9 and he hates it. He reckons the paint started flaking a little while after he got it and his screen has cracked. He has been known to be rough with his phones but his gf tells me he has been very careful with this one. I was thinking about getting a V9 after having a V3 for ages. But Im thinking a move away from Motorola for a while might be good. Nothing wrong with Motorola, but I have had a V3 for about 3 and a half years and im over it.

Mind you the V9 is very sleek and does look really nice. Takes half decent pics as well.

I found the user interface and software on my V3 to be excrutiatingly frustrating, especially after I had used a Sony Ericsson. User Interface looked rubbish, (weird fonts), and the way to type a text message was infuriating. I haven't used a V9 so I can't comment on the way the software runs, but I was surprised at how BIG it is - a lot bigger than imagined it to be and bigger than the V3.

I used to be a steadfast Nokia guy (but this was back in the days of the 3310 and 8310), but using the k800i I think Sony Ericsson have it sorted with ease of use. Just super easy to navigate around the menus and typing text messages is a piece of piss.

I think the new Sony Ericsson C902 looks great - 5MP camera (I know you're not buying it for that Max but still a nice thing to have) and is quite slim in design.

Although I don't know when it's released in Australia, and I don't know how sold you are on getting a V9.

The V9 is ok. I'm trying to be really careful with it. It's annoying though, I can't work out how to add words to the dictionary, and if you accidentally space, you have to delete the whole word if you want to add letters to it. For example, I want to write fishing, but I only write fis, and to finish it off I have to delete the fis and retype it. I can't work it out...

And I'm still trying to get rid of the Re:!! It's making me so annoyed

Sounds just like my V3. I would never get a Motorola again. From what I've seen, Samsung also have a shit menu system.

as stated in posting this thread im obviously looking for a new phone. gotta weigh up pros and cons and that, wont bore you with details.

but seriously, how about a Sony Ericsson C905. 8 megapixel camera phone. *drools*****.

im hating the fact that ill probably sway from SE when i get my next phone but this is one i could nearly hold out for. check it out.

http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_c905-2427.php

and probably getting the girlfriend a new LG KU990. wouldnt mind one myself. but dont tell her. :D
seem like a good little touch phone. nice and sleek and something different.

Yeah, I'm not at all sold on the V9, I'd definitely check out the interface first, just like the slim design. I still have a couple of months to decide on a new phone, but that new SE does look great. I guess it depends what 3 have on offer by September also.

SE T250i

I hear it's one of the latest and greatest on the market, nearly broke the bank though - $29 (including $5 call credit)

for those interested.
The HTC touch Diamond will be released on an $80 plan or $999 ouright with telstra.
if i want, id wait for optus to release there version of the phone, on any plan i would want.
also the more and more i read about the iphone, the more and more im convinced i was right in thinking that its just that little apple logo thats selling these things on the basis that there is so much better out there.
however, if thats too ones taste and you get your enjoyment and kicks out of it
good luck to you
