It seems....ok. Overall I pretty much agree with cammania. Just like with iPods, Apple will make you pay through the nose for technology all other manufacturers will soon develop/have already developed anyway at a cheaper price. I know some people have to have whatever is the latest gadget if it has some new innovations.....but as with any gadgets, if you can stand to wait a few months, the competition will have exactly the same features in their product lines; everything moves so fast. Give it another 12-18 months and suddenly the heavily-promoted and expensive iPhone is just another phone. Apple's marketing gurus are just masters of giving products a huge amount of hype, which in turn makes them the must-have item.
I always hear about iPods having tech issues, dunno if this will be the case with the phone. But it was enough for me to buy a Creative MP3 player for less than the equivalent iPod.

I've had 2 iPods... I lose 'em before they get a chance to break. I carry them around everywhere, drop them, bang them in the workshop... I abuse the crap out of them.
Never a problem. Just so you know, you know, that there's another side to the story, you know?
I have two Mac 'puters... had the laptop for 3 1/2 years, it's flown all over Aus and to NZ with me. Had an iMac for a year and a half... no problems. At all.
How'd your team go today, GTR?

the ones i have taken interest in are the ones you never know if or when theyll come out to australia.
iPhone is obviously coming out and i am interested in what it has to offer but i am not thinking its the greatest phone ever as i stated in my original post.
The HTC touch diamond looks pretty good. Keeping my eye out on the Sony Ericsson Xperia, as i am a SE user through and through as i think they develop great phones and the new Samsung i900 omnia. basically a rival for an iPhone and comes across to me as a bit better. same memory as the iphone and a FM radio which is a must for the footy
shall wait and see as my contract is up for renewal as of mid august and as i am on a higher cap, i can basically get any phone. so they better be pumping out great phones by then instead of the other tripe that Nokia and co come up with.

Don't have a problem with Mac computers at all, just iPods.
And I was flying a triangle between Jandakot/Pingelly/Bunbury/Jandakot between 1 and 4 this afternoon, so I didn't see a second of it. How did they play?

I flew back in this afternoon myself, so I missed most of it,
but I just thought I'd ask...

My Motorola V3 died on me a couple of days ago. Walked into the staff room and one of my fellow employees had just tried reading my messages and told me that it wasn't turning on. It still hasn't turned on and I have now got myself a nokia 5310. VERY THIN! Huge difference going from a Motorola back to a Nokia, especially as the nokia isn't a flip phone. But I am loving the music player and being able to connect my mobile to the computer!

In reference to the iPhone... Australia wont have the data plans and allowances to support the full use of the iPhone, so expect to pay out your arse once you exceed the stipulated data limit.
I have noticed that the basic iPhone starts at around the 200AUD mark... I would assume that Optus and Vodafone (The two carrier networks) would be aiming to sign you up for around 24months at around the $50 per month range.
Anyone have any further info?

Nothing concrete but you'd be on the mney there...
the biggest thing that's going to affect sales is that Telstra have, at present, no announcements about carrying it. With no-one else offering coverage in the bush, that's disappointing.

maybe there just waiting the normal waiting game and seeing what optus have before telstra decide whatr plans and crap theyll put out. what about the idea of this being on prepay and buying the phone outright? still think it will happen you reackon?

i've still got my sony erickson w810i, looks like so

i got it january 2007, good phone, i wont be getting another one till it dies because a phone is a phone. i quickly found out that when you are in a job which involves alot of fieldwork, having the lastest awesomest new phone is pointless because you drop it in mud, fine particles find it way into the phone etc.
