It will go down if we don't bring anyone in, as the percentage of the population in the workforce is going to take a dive over the next 20 years or so due to an ageing population.

Do you honstly think there is no other option but to pack them in? I'm surprised you agree with this policy given your healthy regard for the environment ie through your advocation of cycling, green energy and the ETS? Look at the numbers again.

170 000 extra people per year
850 000 every 5 years

Think of the population band that currently stretches from Mandurah to Two rocks and try to imagine it with twice as many people in it, within only 20 years. What will that mean to our fuel / power usage, general congestion, increased pollution, extra pressure on water supplies, pressure on already creaking infrastructure - medical system, and roads. Its crazy that we are one of the only countries in the world embarking on a population drive, in a world riddled wth examples of overpopulation and its associated impacts.

You don't have to imagine too hard just take a trip to Sydney and see how crap its infrastructure is and how a city was allowed to evolve instead of planning it.

Krudd is only cutting back on proper immigrants because he knows his shit policy on ‘illegal’ immigrants is an absolute joke, and will continue to bring ship-fulls of people who may very well be extremists or violent tools back in their home country.

This actually was not an issue during the Howard period. He was strict, fair, and didn’t take no as an answer. If you come here illegally you have a high chance of getting sent back...and if you come ‘legally’, and you have the skills were looking for...Welcome with open arms.
