Are the comparisons with Wells such a bad thing. An outside mid with good leg speed, X-Factor and a goal kicker to boot. May never be an elite player but still a very good one...... Yes please. Get him in the right system and he'll flourish, I'd like us to at least try.

Perhaps Masten for Bennell plus an upgraded pick our way.

Staker and our 5th round pick for him.

Shit! We already traded Staker away!

Harley is still “suspended.” Rumour has it that his senior season is over, however Bluey claims he is waiting on the “Senior Players” to tell him that Harley deserves a recall.
WTF? What’s next Bluey? You break out the boxing gloves and get the “Senior Players” to start bashing him, ala Robert Walls? Who exactly are these “senior players”? A bunch of has-been hacks and a bald prick who stabbed his club in the back for money.

I do feel sympathy for the kid, but I also appreciate that this is the same challenge faced by any young draftee. However their treatment of him has been arse-about. He has been suspended twice for missing two sessions (both incidents attributed to homesickness.) Fair enough, but you’d think by now they’d have figured out that he has a problem and would try to deal with it. But no, they figure an indefinite suspension is the way to go. Wow, that’s really gonna build a bond between him and the club. What do they think? At the end of the season he’s suddenly gonna turn around and say “gee, thanks for trying to ruin my life and my career, I’m ready to make a long-term commitment to this ulcerated rectum of a club”? It’s not like they’re doing anything to enhance his trade value either, at this rate they’ll be trading him to Freo for a 5th round pick.

I would LOVE for us to make a play for this kid, but my gut says he’s headed for Freo.

Weren't there a lot of rumours before the draft that the Suns were going cold on Bennell? If so, might they have seen this coming?

There's a story in the Hearld Sun today that recruiters were warned about the prospects of him getting homesick, although his talent was probably too good to pass up.

Seems Paul Bower wants a trade home and now Jacob Surjan has been linked to wanting to get out of Port Adelaide along with up to eight others.

Hmm not sure if I would really want Surjan or Bower. We seem to have small backmen coming out of every orifice atm. Wouldn't mind knowing who the other Port players are (other than Jackson Trengove)

Surjan can't get a game at Port, so I can't see him forcing his way into our starting lineup.
I’ve heard that Carlile is considering his options, but like Trengrove if GWS don’t snare him he is more likely to go home to Victoria.
Supposedly Pittard is out of contract? If so I'm surprised GWS hasn’t been after him.

I don't really think we need to worry about getting any defender, tall or small. We have plenty of talent down there atm and would only consider another tall defender in the draft, not through a trade. We do however need probably one more influential midfielder.

Also not sure we would have much interest in Pittard, just don't see him coming in and improving the side.

Pittard I think is a rising star and a player of the future. Should be a good player whether he stays or ends up elsewhere.

I agree that another gun midfielder would slot in nicely, maybe we could make them an offer for Boak.

Another ongoing saga.

He has recently had surgery with a Brisbane Specialist, hopefully to get his calves right.

I haven't really followed all the shit-storms at Freo. Did he ever get his off-field shite sorted?
