Unbelievable. I'm embarrassed.

Too good less two years to swap for Kelly; the club preferring to kill our draft options for two years over that suggested deal. Now not good enough to swap for pick 99 and a pair of steak knives. Something does not add up

It must be something terribly, terribly bad or he has the total shits with the club for ruining his career. If it's the later I hope he gets a contract and prove our wise club wrong. If its the former we'll know; when no other team picks him up with pick 99 in the national draft, and I'll change my opinion.

Yes, something is not right, I'd love to know what it is too.

Like tipping Gatorade into his urine sample, testing positive for drugs and then getting caught with drugs at the airport? Oh, that's right..... I forgot you can do all that and be welcomed back with open arms!

8 players out.
Brendon Ah Chee (del)
Brayden Ainsworth (del)
Jarrod Brander (del)
Jarrod Cameron (del)
Will Collins (del)
Mark Hutchings (del)
Ben Johnson (del)
Nathan Vardy (ret)
Daniel Venables (ret)

one player in.
Sam Petrevski-Seton

5 draft picks.
10, 29, 35, 68, 86

There is a bunch of NGA picks, but I'll assume we have 3 rookies. Every club has delisted, traded or retired at least 5 players but 8 seems to be the expected turnaround this year. There's no insight in this post it's just an update.

I was listening to Schofield's podcast recently where Oscar Allen was a guest. He is good mates with Brander having lived together after being drafted. He is disappointed with Brander's delisting and mentioned that Brander spoke with him around round 18 and told Oscar that he thought he thought he was in trouble from a delisting point of view.

Allen said that he and Tom Cole firmly believe Brander is a 200 game player. Oscar did say that Brander's contest work had been queried early in his career. Oscar felt that it had been addressed, but he believed that, once a player is branded with that trait, that it becomes difficult to shake.

For mine, Brander's delisting is not only bemusing, it's a travesty. He is a big bloke, has shown something particularly this year and, with more time would have rewarded the club.

There are issues with young players feeling they're not getting sufficient opportunities or are held accountable for losses (perhaps undeservedly) and being played in a variety of positions without an chance to settle. Waterman has expressed frustration at being shifted around and losing confidence, then being dropped to the WAFL.

The club needs to address these issues (and a plethora of others), hopefully fresh blood in the coach's box will reignite the club into action, but until senior players are held accountable for poor performances, the culture among the players will continue to deteriorate.

Ronin O'Connor has just been delisted by Adelaide. A 190cm inside midfielder from Claremont.

Is he worth a shot given he's a delisted FA? or Charlie Constable? Do we have sufficient quids to pay them?

You'd think salary cap is an issue unless we get them as a rookie.

You'd think Charlie Constable or Michael Gibbons would be a better player than pick 68. I think if offered a rookie spot they might accept it.

Not a done deal yet - the free agency trade period begins next week. I really hope he gets the chance to show what he can do as a forward. GWS have lost Finlayson and Hogan is a ticking time bomb, so chances are he'll get a go.

I agree - good luck Brander!

Still to go through the motions, but like Stengle, he's agreed to terms so they will nab him.

The DFA period and pick 68 (which will probably end up in the 50s) or they may leave it as a rookie pick and wait for the SSP or mid-season draft. Having said that, the mid-season draft can be used to replace those consigned to the inactive list.

Constable could be a good pick, but less so for Gibbons. Interesting to see which way they go.

One thing is for sure. We need to nail the next 2-3 drafts.

Its official now. Good luck to him and GWS. I see yesterday on the AFL site that he was one of our best runners for average ground covered per game (13.63km in 2021) so GWS have an absolute bargain combined with his skill.

I'm still shaking my head about the matter but don't plan to post about it any more, but I guess he did not kill Bambi to become so out of favour; or no team would have picked him up. Just our bad player management.
