Our game against Hawthorn last year was a foregone conclusion, look what happened there.

Come the final home and away round, anything can happen.

You make a good point.
I would however point out that the Hawks were almost a top 8 side, were very much in the hunt having beaten GWS 2 games previous, and were still in contention for a finals spot until the following game when the Dogs beat the Crows.
Whereas Norf are toast. If we can't beat them, then we don't deserve to be playing finals.

As for the other two games, I don't hold out too much hope, but nothing would make me happy than to delete the thread about the Elimination Final.
Anyhoo looking forward to this game, and interested to see who runs out. :)

Confirmed that Luke Foley will be playing this week - that is the 8th debut for the club this year, although a couple of them had played AFL previously.

If we can keep quiet Goldstein( who should win their B&F) this year, Dumont and Higgins, we should be fine. I can't see us flogging this team at all.
Do or do not!

That is awesome.
Great to have this opportunity to give the young guys a taste.

So we have debuted: Edwards, Brayshaw, Williams, Reid, XO, and Jones (for us), and now Foley
(Plus Kelly technically)
That's a pretty impressive list for a club knocking on top-4.

But it also poses the question:
We have two players to come back in, we've lost one to injury that we know of, and we're also debuting another youngster.
Yet we're "not resting anybody".
What am I missing?

In: D.Sheed, B.Ah Chee, L.Foley, B.Williams
Out: H.Brayshaw (omitted), X.O'Neill (omitted), J.Brander (omitted), J.McGovern (hamstring)

I wonder what this means for Allen? Does he go back to cover McGovern?

Sheed expected, Ah Chee not unexpected, good to see Foley debut, and good to see Williams get another game, but puzzling.

The omissions are all a bit unlucky, as they would all have benefited, but every in must have an out. Nice to see Ainsworth holding his spot, has been doing a good job.

I imagine Allen will see a little time in defence, it always seems to happen, but we still have Schoey and Rotham to help Barass, so I don't think we need an extra tall.

I wonder if either there will be a late change, or the plan is to bench NN as early as possible.
Or JK and Allen goes to FF?

Let's not forget that Brisbane just got over the line by a point against NM a few rounds ago.

No easy games and we will need to play well to win. Besides, as has already been mentioned, if we lose the pressure is off Richmond/Geelong. That is an issue now with teams beng announced the day before the game. Richmond don't announce their team until Friday night and Geelong Saturday night.

Great to see another debutant this week. Schofield stays in to cover for McGovern and Duggan moves into the middle. I'm excited to see Duggan emerge as a midfielder. He's hard and committed...just what we need in there. Williams gets another go which is also exciting.

I see the Vic media are complaining about the 'advantage' we have if we get a home final where we can isolate from home and our opponent has to isolate in a hub. I'm not sure why they can't just fly in-fly out, but it's probably to do with politics.

Let's really put NM away and get our systems purring and prepare for the finals for another year.

???
WTF is the difference? A visiting team is always going to stay in a hotel, there's just extra precautions due to Covid.

I'm sure the AFL was offered many concessions when we pitched to host the Finals and GF here. So Fuck em. They can suck it up or go home crying.

The bookies are offering $6.50, so anyone who thinks Norf have any chance of winning should get on that.

Why are we flooding our own forward line?
And have have we gone in so tall, yet have nobody to defend high kicks coming into our defensive 50?
NB: Ah Chee is a spud.

And you can't tell me the Eagles are taking this game seriously
Still a bit ugly, but it will improve.
