It looks pretty balanced for us although it does have us playing 12 games at Optus:

We play at two venues where we have been unable to win since forever (SCG & GMHBA). We do get Richmond, Melbourne, Essendon, North & Port at home in our only games against them.

We play Freo, Adelaide, Bulldogs, St Kilda and Collingwood twice.

3 x MCG games against Collingwood, Carlton and Hawthorn.

Tough away fixture at the Gabba.

Other than not knowing the breaks between games beyond R6, this looks good for us.

I don't mind playing Melbourne at Alice as we usually win and there is more eagles crowd there than for the demons, so it's sad not to see that one included.
TBH, I'm sick of playing Collingwood. I think that has done its dash. Hawthorn at the G, brings back traumatic memories. The Gold coast have won their first 3 the last 3 years from memory and they will try and jump us. Bulldogs and St Kilda will both be better this year. Hopefully the pies go down a hole. When a club gives away the first draft pick for the next year the media loves it if they are bottom of the ladder, even if it is only for a round.
6 Victorian games is good. At least Kardinya park has good food, easy parking and the crowd is reasonably civil.

Bring it on. And as MCG mentions; Gold Coast will be rather hard to beat first up. We'll know where we stand early on.

Also agree with MCG in that I also support playing Melbourne - their home game - in Alice before the bye round; it adds a bit of Aussie culture that puts a smile on ya dial. Maybe next year.

Provided we have our fingers out, and are ready to rumble from day 1, then that start for us is a great opportunity. We COULD be 5/5 to start the season. Dogs and Saints will be difficult at home, but beatable.
Apparently we play NONE of the top 4 twice, that's a massive bonus. Dogs, Pies, Ans Saints will all be competitive, and will kick our arses if we're not on song, but those games are winnable.

Playing the Cats at the swamp, we can pencil in as a loss. And playing Brissy at the Grubba will be tough especially if its a night game. But we do get Richmond and Port at home. Tough but winnable games.

Playing Sydney at the doughnut is always difficult, but unless Buddy has a miraculous recover they'll be beatable.

No Taswegian game is Good. 3 games at the G, all winnable, is also handy.

Only one of the first 3 home games is Sunday afternoon, that is a plus.

Barass, Shuey and Shep looked solid once again. Rotham tried hard when he was given time on the ground.

Freo looked okay. They will make finals in 3 years. I've got a bad feeling. Their defence and midfield is good, they just need a forward line now.

Duggan was up and about, O'Neil looking good.

We didn't show too much or any new secrets and tricks just did what we needed.

I did like the sneakiness of manning the mark closer to the corridor instead of directly in line with the kick.

Thought Nic looked pretty rusty so he'll be better for the run. On the flip side, we didn't rely on scores from stoppages which was our only real source of scores last year.

O'Neil deserves a round 1 birth - really like him

Duggan looks really fit and clean in the contest - but was left alone a lot so will be interested to see him in a real midfield battle.

Petch looked better but still a bit too hot and cold. Looked like he was playing Defensive wing at times so perhaps that's why he disappeared from the action.

We rely so much on Ryan for our scoring chains

Allen is a forward... Leave him there...

Injuries are the key for our season IMO

I have said before that we need a fit Yeo to win the flag....and I stand by it. I believe he is our most dynamic midfield player...hopefully we get him right sooner rather than later

and that's the problem ...inconsistent ..he needs to stand up and support the team

the next 2 rounds have been released, and we get 2 sunday games. Our home derby game is sunday afternoon, which to me is the worst time to attend home games. ughhh

In fairness to the AFL, we are playing Freo and the friday and saturday night games are Richmond v Western Bulldogs, Sydney v Geelong and Brisbane v Port Adelaide.
