NSW Premier now telling her people not to visit Melbourne due to their outbreak.

Ahhhh VFL. If only you could’ve looked past your bias and the dollars and actually put player safety first, you would’ve re-started the season by moving Victorian clubs to the safe zones in WA and SA.

Yes, but I'm guessing that, now Essendon knows this, all of a sudden 24 players will state they were in close contact with McKenna and therefore cannot field a team.

If that were to happen, it would expose yet another problem with policy on the run.

There should already have been clear rules in place which said that if a team has 22 players plus emergencies then it must play on or, if it doesn’t, it forfeits. The rules should already be in place and be clear that no attempt to fix the fixed fixture will be allowed and if you don’t show up you forfeit.

100%

Essendon weren't following the guidelines by training all the defenders together etc. The guidelines stated that they should train separately to avoid losing too many players from one area of the ground. If Essendon are forced to field a team, it may be without their defensive group. I hope they have versatility.

All this and Essendon were travelling well having not lost a game.

I wonder whether some clubs and/or players are not committed to abiding by the rules/guidelines.

Daniel Andrews will ask the PM to stop all flights to Melbourne for the next two weeks.

He also does not rule out imposing stage three restrictions on the entire state of Victoria again if the situation does not improve.

Cotchin said on Tuesday that some of his teammates were a "genuine chance" of not leaving Victoria.

They hardly leave Victoria anyway. Fucking sooks.

This is a prime example of the entitlement the smarmy Victorian powerhouse clubs feel. They've thrown down the gauntlet to the AFL and, the AFL cannot back down on this. Send them interstate and see if they can manage without Mummy to wash their socks and tuck them in at night. Richmond don't even want to go to Geelong. When the issue of Geelong playing home finals at Kardinya Park and that Richmond may have to travel and play there, Caroline Wilson (a diehard Tigers fan) said: "I don't know why Geelong can't travel 100km down the road and play Richmond at the MCG."

This is the thin end of the wedge that these clubs have enjoyed for decades. Now they're being exposed publicly for what they stand for. The AFL will never be a true national competition while attitudes like this continue to exist and the AFL accommodates them.

https://www.afl.com.au/news/459793/-he- ... acing-pies

Sidebottom and veteran Pies defender Lynden Dunn were drinking at the house of injured star Jeremy Howe on Saturday afternoon, before Dunn caught an Uber home and Sidebottom – the club's vice-captain – went to Wells' residence.

Boys will be boys, but as expected, some just run roughshod over the rules and compromise the competition. Some need to grow up.

Sidebottom and Dunn (who was a chance to replace Howe) will be suspended for at least one week.

It looks like the one week suspensions handed out to players is not sufficient deterrent. Maybe up it to mandatory three weeks.

Let’s see if the VFL enforces its own strict COVID rules and sets an appropriate penalty which sends a message to all players......or panders to a big Victorian club.

Staff, coaches and players living in Victorian COVID-19 hotspots are in a mad scramble to find temporary accommodation by midnight tonight or else they will be locked out of New South Wales

It will be interesting to see how they adapt to this situation.

Victoria had 191 new cases.

Media reports saying a state wide four week lockdown is expected.

If so, Gil will be begging Victorians to comply so that the precious finals series and GF can be held in Victoria.

Its 6 weeks. They'll have to fly another 2 sides over to Perth. They're closing schools etc. This is more serious as its community transmission and not returning internationals
