1st game for the new WAFL team on the 6th of April at Lathlain. Will be interesting to see how competitive we will be with the amount of fill in players required. Demons haven't had a good run throughout the last decade or more. Should start the season with a win. How many of you will go to watch the WAFL now the Eagles have a team?

Watched the WAFL game on tv and liked the looks of young Harry Edwards down back for us. Going to be a good replacement for McGovern later in his career. AhChee and Nelson racked up the disposals but were very poor by foot basically just banging it on the boot. Allen was good and will still need quite a few games in the middle before stepping up to the next level. Waterman should be in the team sooner rather than later. I think we need to rest Oscar Allen and let Waterman take his spot. Brayshaw looked promising and once fully fit should be pushing for an AFL guernsey.

Whoever runs the WAFL made some cunning decisions when setting out the fixture this year. The scheduling of Eagles AFL and WAFL games ensures that every week, a group of emergencies for the AFL fixture don't get to play in the WAFL side. Means the top 4-6 WAFL players on the fringe of AFL selection are regularly not available to play at WAFL level. I can understand why the WAFL wants to weaken the Eagles WAFL team but from the Eagles perspective it is not ideal because a group of players is held back from the WAFL team and do not get to play at all -pretty difficult to find and maintain form if you are watching from the sidelines.

Howd you come to this conclusion? 3 of our 4 emergencies played? Ah chee, smith and nelson. Looks like we held ainsworth out however.

Also with it being a sunday game for the eagles, always hard to fixture around and make a game after the seniors play. Only 2 games on monday are derbys, hard to argue that eagles vs claremont is deserving of playing on a public holiday.

Was anyone at the EP/WC-B match?

Win kicking 4 goals. Keep EP scoreless to half time and to 1 point in three quarters. Weather statement wasn't anything awful, though some anecdotal evidence suggests otherwise.
Were EP just more awful than us or were we just brilliant defensively and useless forward?

Looks like Mr Nesbit has worked his magic and got the concession to be competitive. Better flexibility with fixturing, no repeat of WAFL playing in peel hours before AFL game and most importantly recruitment so Weagles. Word is they will be able to recruit players that match peel list profile minus AFL players.

With WAFL Club list sizes being lowered it'll also mean we have a better pool to choose from.
