Highly rated as a youngster - rated indeed the highest of the three Morton brothers, Cale was drafted by the Demons at pick four. Initially he performed extremely well, making a name as a solid if undeveloped midfielder. However this was during a period where the Demons were in disarray, and by the end of the 2012 season, Morton's development had stalled completely, and Melbourne accepted a cheap trade back to Perth for an unusable pick 88.
Morton was not really expected to break into the West Coast side. however solid WAFL form and injury to senior players allowed him to play three games in his first year at the club - not bad performances, but nothing great either. Not good enough however to gain a second year on the Eagles list, being delisted at the end of 2013. |
